This technique was suggested by Dr Scott Lipscomb of Denton, Texas. We've used it on a lot of molars and it seems to offer a great pre-emptive solution to those broken distal cusps that patients can present with years later.
This technique calls for metal cusp tips on the distal lingual and distal buccal as well as the distal marginal ridge.  In the mouth it looks like a full porcelain veneer crown.
